What is covered? Covers the excess for theft and damage to the vehicle including window, tyre and undercarriage damage.
Amount of cover Cover up to £2,000 for any one claim and up to £3,000 over the year as a whole in the annual policy.
Multiple drivers covered? Yes.

The policy covers the policyholder, plus any other persons named on the car rental agreement (as long as those other people would have been eligible to buy this insurance themselves).

Rentals in home country covered? Yes, for an additional premium.
Rentals near home covered? No. Rentals must be more than 150km from your home.
Restrictions on drivers’ ages? Drivers must be between 21 and 74.
Additional items included Atlas offer to beat their competitors’ prices – if you see a lower price offered for a like-for-like policy they will beat that quote by £1.

Supplementary Liability Insurance (SLI) and Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) policy is also available (useful for rentals in the USA and Canada in particular).

Small print/exclusions to beware of You are not covered for:

  • The rental of “Expensive or Exotic” vehicles, namely vehicles with a Retail Purchase Price in excess of $50,000 and “Antique” vehicles which are over 20 years old or which have not been manufactured for 10 years or more.
  • The rental of certain vehicles namely, motor homes, trailers or caravans, vans, trucks, non-passenger carrying vehicles, vehicles that carry more than 9 people including the driver, motorcycles, mopeds, motorbikes, off-road vehicles and recreational vehicles.
  • Losses occurring from driving whilst not on a public highway.

Procedure for claiming In the event of loss you must contact AXA Assistance Ltd on your return to the UK (and in any event within 31 days of incurred loss) to notify loss and request a claims form. You should request a claim form to be sent to you by email, fax or post.

You must fully complete, sign and date the claim form and return it with all requested supporting documentation to AXA Assistance Ltd.
